How long does the trolley run in New Orleans?
All three of New Orleans' streetcar lines provide service 24-hours a day with frequent service during the day and hourly appearances from midnight to 6 a.m. The fare for each is $1.25 per person.
The red Canal Streetcar Line takes locals and tourists to work and play each day on a 5.5-mile route from the foot of Canal Street through the Central Business District and into the Mid-City area.
The entire trip takes about 45 minutes each way and gives you a grand view of some of New Orleans' most beautiful and interesting homes, the Central Business District, Audubon Park, plus Tulane and Loyola Universities. The St. Charles Streetcar runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The New Orleans Streetcar is an affordable, easy way to navigate your way through the Crescent City. A one-way ride on the streetcar costs $1.25, and an additional $0.25 to transfer from one line/car to another. Still, New Orleans' streetcar system is a charming way to explore the city, and you can easily rent bikes, hop a bus, take a ferry, or call a pedicab, a taxi or a limo service whenever you need to. Plus, you'll be able to access all the diverse neighborhoods New Orleans has to offer.
The current cost to charter a streetcar is $1,000. Charter requests must be received 4 weeks prior to the requested charter date. The RTA requires a deposit of 10% of the total cost to reserve your date. An RTA team member will contact you to confirm availability.
Royal Street is a pedestrian street during the day. This is the best way to walk in the quarter as you can walk in and out of the exclusive Royal Street Art Galleries and listen to street musicians play New Orleans classics.
Ticket machines only accept cash. Or you can buy a ticket right on your phone with the Le Pass app. Exact cash fares are also accepted when boarding.
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A taxi ride from the airport downtown will cost a flat rate of $36, but it could be more if you choose to take a rideshare, like Uber or Lyft. Some travelers report spending close to $90 for a rideshare or waiting over an hour for a taxi.

For many New Orleans visitors, Bourbon Street embodies the life of a party town. The street is lit by neon lights, throbbing with music and decorated by beads and balconies.
What streetcar goes to the Garden District?
Charles streetcar is the best way to get to the Garden District. Catch it at Carondelet at Canal Street, as well as a number of other stops in the CBD.
The streetcars run 24 hours a day, except during Mardi Gras parades. During peak hours, they come along about every five minutes.
Uber and Lyft are widely available throughout the city and are often more affordable and convenient than renting a car. Expect surge prices during big events like Mardi Gras. United Cabs is the most trusted New Orleans taxi service and even has its own app to compete with the likes of rideshare services.
Drinking is allowed only from closed containers with a cap or straw.
Audubon Zoo can be accessed by the St. Charles Avenue Streetcar line, which stops in front of Audubon Park at the "St Charles at Tulane/Loyola" stop. You will see the formal entrance to Audubon Park on St. Charles Avenue across the street from Tulane University and Loyola University New Orleans.
1. French Quarter. The French Quarter of New Orleans is what most tourists come to see when they visit the city. Set along a bend on the Mississippi River, the main attraction here is the architecture, but it is also a great area for dining and entertainment.
Bring Cash
It's fairly surprising how many cash-only places exist in New Orleans, including the world famous Cafe Du Monde (think beignets!). Although you'll find ATMs everywhere, avoid all the surcharges by planning ahead.

The St. Charles Avenue Streetcar is one of the oldest and most notable lines. Its route – spanning from Uptown to the Central Business District – passes by classic New Orleans stops under live oaks along the neutral ground.

What's the difference between Bourbon Street and French Quarter?
Bourbon Street runs parallel to the Mississippi River for the entire stretch of the French Quarter, from Canal Street to Esplanade Ave. The majority of nightlife is on the upriver stretch of Bourbon (the end closer to Canal Street). Downriver of St. Philip Street, is primarily residential.
Downtown New Orleans is a great place for those travelling on business to stay, as it is the central business district. However, for the majority of tourists, the French Quarter is far superior. Containing Bourbon Street as well, it offers more attractions than anywhere else in New Orleans.
While the French Quarter is probably most famous for Bourbon Street, there's so much more to see. There are countless museums and historic sights to visit. There are also many local restaurants and establishments that bring the spirit of New Orleans to life.

You Don't Need A Car In New Orleans
You'll be within walking distance of the most popular restaurants, sights to see and other destinations. If you want to go somewhere else there's the beautiful and historic streetcars that can take you take you to locations like City Park and the Garden District.
Transportation. Streetcars, cabs, ride-share services like Uber and Lyft, pedicabs, mule-drawn carriages… New Orleans may be one of America's most walkable cities, but we have a backup plan for people who need help getting around.
It is common to tip New Orleans taxi drivers 10-15%, depending on the quality of service you receive.
Taxi rides cost $36.00 from the airport to the Central Business District (CBD) or French Quarter (west of Elysian Fields) for up to two (2) passengers. For three (3) or more passengers, the fare will be $15.00 per passenger. Taxis are required to accept credit card payments.

Where do locals hang out in New Orleans?
If you're looking to experience the city like a local, avoid Bourbon Street. Period. Instead, head out to some of our other wonderful neighborhoods, including the Garden District, Mid City, Treme, Bywater, Uptown and Lakeview, to name a few. Try to commit to visiting at least 1–2 neighborhoods while you're here.
This charming, historic neighborhood is best explored on foot, so I'm going to take you on a Garden District walking tour. I took approximately eleventy billion photos of all the beautiful houses and mansions (seriously, each one is more beautiful than the next), so let's jump right in!

Lucky for both residents and visitors, the beautiful Garden District of New Orleans lives up to its name. There are few areas as as pleasant anywhere in town.
Cable cars are often misidentified as 'trolleys', but that term refers specifically to the trolley pole used by streetcars to get power from an overhead wire (hence streetcars are often called trolleys, correctly). Cable cars use no overhead wire, and have no trolley poles.
The Riverfront Streetcar goes along the Mississippi waterfront to the Café Du Monde where you can have the most delicious beignets and to the French Market in the French Quarter.
Charles Line, the fleet on this line is a bit more modern, yet hasn't lost the historic touch that is New Orleans. You'll notice the difference especially in the summer months, these streetcars have air conditioning.
While you can find affordability as soon as late June and into early September, July and August are by far the cheapest months to fly to and stay in NOLA. Even the city's priciest luxury hotels slash their rates to cushion their lower occupancy.

Can you walk on Bourbon Street with alcohol?
In New Orleans, it is legal to walk outside while holding an open container of alcohol. This is why drinkers on Bourbon Street can meander up and down the street carrying a plastic cup of their favorite beverage, stopping at takeout windows for refills.
We would encourage you to consider a 20% gratuity of the pre-tax amount for someone who exceeds your expectations, 15% for adequate service, and less for less than stellar assistance. To make it easy, double the tax amount (which is 9%) and round up.

General Information. Anna Maria Island Trolley operates daily at no cost to riders . The trolley runs from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. and visits each stop approximately every 20 minutes.

Several trolleys loop the island from Coquina Beach on the southern tip in Bradenton Beach up to the City Pier in the City of Anna Maria on the northern end of the island on a daily basis. The trolleys also run on most holidays.
Once you get onto AMI and you're ready to explore, you can, of course, choose to walk from place to place. After all, the island is only seven miles long, so it's not that tough to get from place to place on foot.
