Does boiling water aerate it?

When the water is boiled, the dissolved air leaves the water and the result is a flat taste. After boiling water, aerate the water by pouring it back and forth a few times between two containers. This adds air to the water and it will taste better.
A common warning to tea drinkers is that over-boiling water in a kettle will cause the water to lose its dissolved oxygen, resulting in "flat-tasting" water that is unsuitable for brewing a decent cup of tea.
Aeration can be achieved through the infusion of air into the bottom of the lake, lagoon or pond or by surface agitation from a fountain or spray-like device to allow for oxygen exchange at the surface and the release of gasses such as carbon dioxide, methane or hydrogen sulfide.
It's a universal truth that plants are the primary source of oxygen in our environment. So, it follows that pond plants offer a natural way to generate aeration inside the pond. Some of the aquatic plants you might consider include water violet, hornwort, crowfoot, arrowhead, eelgrass, fanwort, and water wisteria.
Submersed Aerators
Compressed air is pumped through diffusers placed on the lake or pond bottom. As bubbles rise, they circulate the water and bring bottom water with low oxygen levels to the surface where oxygen can be absorbed. This circulation pattern mixes the water and provides oxygen at lower depths.
Boiling the water kills microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, or protozoans that can cause disease. Boiling makes the tap water microbiologically safe. Bring tap water to a full rolling boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using.
As for the water in the glass on the bedside table, you can add more oxygen to the water simply by pouring it back and forth from glass to glass or putting it in a reusable bottle and shaking it up.

Too much oxygen in water can lead to the potentially lethal gas bubble disease, in which gas comes out of solution inside the fish, creating bubbles in its skin and around its eyes. (Excess nitrogen, however, is a far more common cause of this disease.)
It is not actually the bubbles that provide the oxygen to the water (a common misconception), but it is their disturbance of the surface and ability to provide more water circulation that helps to raise the concentration of oxygen in the tank.
How long should you aerate water?
Plug the loose end of tubing into the air hose in the compressor. Turn on the compressor and operate the aeration system for 15 minutes the first day. Double the operating time each day until it operates continuously.
Aerating is easiest on you (or your equipment operator) and your lawn when your soil is moist from irrigation or rainfall the day before. Overly dry soil can be tough to aerate, so moisture eases the process. Never aerate overly wet lawns; wait a few days instead.
